Evidence Over Certainty

AEO is a young discipline. Most of what is published is opinion dressed as fact. We are building a research program that distinguishes what is known from what is inferred from what is guessed, and publishes all three, clearly labeled.

Our Evidence Level System

Every article on AEO Updates carries one of three evidence labels. Click the badge on any article to see what it means.

Observed Data

Claims grounded in published studies, platform announcements, or measurable third-party data. We cite the source and describe the methodology.

Interpretation

Analysis and synthesis of available data. Informed opinion based on evidence, but not yet empirically verified by controlled experiment.

Hypothesis

Forward-looking thesis or prediction. Directionally grounded in observed patterns but not yet proven. We flag these clearly so readers can weigh them accordingly.

Research Pipeline

What we are building. Reports will be published here when complete and linked from the articles they inform.

State of AI Visibility: Q3 2026

In Progress

Expected Q3 2026

Open Experiment Library

Planned

A transparent archive of AEO experiments: methodology, sample size, results, and failed hypotheses. Every test documented, including the ones that did not work.

Expected Q4 2026

LLM Citation Anatomy Study

Planned

What structural and semantic properties predict whether a piece of content gets cited by an AI engine? A controlled study across 1,000+ content samples.
